PTFE - Polytetrafluoroethylene
PTFE, (polytetrafluoroethylene), is a non-stick material that works well in a wide variety of applications. It is available in sheet, rod, tube as well as film. PTFE is often used as a gasket material or in packaging for chemical processing equipment.
The mechanical properties combined with its extreme slipperiness make it ideal for bearings, seals, and piston rings in mechanical applications. In addition PTFE is weather resistant, flexible, FDA/USDA compliant, non-flammable, it has a low dielectric constant, is chemically inert, and good at temperatures as low as -100°F. PTFE is one of the lowest coefficient of friction plastics.
PTFE film is an extremely slippery material used primarily as a release sheet. PTFE film is used in capacitor films or electrical wiring harnesses as spacers in transformers and electrical insulating applications. PTFE film sheet is available in a variety of thicknesses.
Highly chemical resistant virgin PTFE also has an extremely low coefficient of friction. PTFE rod has a wide working temperature range. For improved mechanical strength see filled versions.
Skived PTFE sheets re made from the highest quality virgin PTFE resins. Like other Virgin PTFE our skived sheet has excellent chemical resistance and extremely low coefficient of friction.
