Thyssen establishes a steel sales and trading office in New York to represent the world-renowned steel mill founded by August Thyssen in 1871 in Germany.

Our customer base continues to expand from general applications for steel to white goods and automotive.

Long-term supplier relationships established with the US automotive industry. A metal service center group is formed.

Acquisition of Ken-Mac Metals provides Thyssen with direct access into the North American aluminum and stainless marketplace.

Semi-finished plastics added to the company’s portfolio of products following the acquisition of AIN Plastics.

Thyssen secures a leading position among North America’s materials management providers by acquiring a vast service center network of Copper and Brass Sales.

TMX Aerospace division is formed to provide materials procurement and supply chain management services under a long-term contract with the Boeing Commercial Airplanes group.
Thyssen AG and Fried. Krupp AG Hoesch-Krupp merge to form ThyssenKrupp

The company opens a major steel processing and distribution center in Richburg, SC.

Thyssen Inc. changes its name to ThyssenKrupp Materials NA, Inc., to reflect the organizational structure of the parent company established following the merger of Thyssen AG and Fried. Krupp AG Hoesch-Krupp in 1998.

ThyssenKrupp Materials NA enters the industrial services market by forming the Industrial Services business unit and acquiring The Hearn Group. An additional acquisition of VPK Metal strengthens the group’s position in non-ferrous metals in Eastern Canada.

ThyssenKrupp Materials NA acquires the assets of OnlineMetals.com of Seattle, Washington, a web-based retailer of metals and plastics.

Lagermex (now thyssenkrupp Materials de Mexico) joins the TKMNA family of companies and expands the footprint into Mexico.
